“If the leaves are changing, I feel poetry in the air.” –Laura Jaworsk
Fall is, in our opinion, the best time of the year.
The air, the outfits, the trees, the activities, the food, the vibes—ahhhhh. Truthfully, we love everything about the fall season!
There is something about the fall that makes life feel almost unintentionally cozy. Over here at The Page Edit, we strive to be intentionally cozy all throughout the year. But during the fall, it just happens so effortlessly.
I think another reason why I, along with many others, love the fall is because of all the exciting events that happen throughout the season (even reverting back to childhood!) Like the excitement of starting your first day of a new school year, a start of a new semester at college, new outfits for said school year/semester, college football games and tailgates, pumpkin patches, fall festivals, holidays spent with family, and comforting, delicious food.
Overall, it’s just a delightful and lovely time.
With all this being said, I actually researched why we all love the fall so much. I came across this article explaining psychological reasons why we are so obsessed with the fall season.
According to Amy Jane Griffiths, Ph.D, N.C.S.P., a licensed psychologist and professor at Chapman University, she says, “We all crave the comfort and security that comes with traditions and predictability… They may relate to joyful experiences with friends and family and provide something to look forward to… things like fall holidays, back-to-school season, or seasonal treats.”
When I read that I was shocked to realize that there are legitimate psychological reasons as to why we love the fall like we do. Like… whaaat?!
And I promise you I didn’t research that before I wrote the beginning part of this article! I researched it mid-writing and realized that everything I wrote out prior were valid, psychological examples of why we are so friggin’ obsessed with the fall season.
Isn’t that wild? Humans are so cool and so cute.
I think it’s adorable knowing that so many of us grown adults love the fall because it reminds us of happy times with those we love and things we love to do as children.
It’s so pure and wholesome.
We hope you have a wonderful start to your fall season with yourself and those who are special to you!
