“You will enrich your life immeasurably if you approach it with a sense of wonder and discovery, and always challenge yourself to try new things.” -Nate Berkus
Over here at The Page Edit, we are dedicated to discovering new ways to make life more intentional, more fulfilling, and more beautiful for ourselves and all of our lovely followers—in even the smallest of ways.
We want to create the best versions of ourselves, while also creating the best version of our life for ourselves.
And part of keeping that promise to ourselves (and you all!) is by pushing ourselves to try new things.
Don’t get us wrong—we love (and recommend) a stable-ish routine. It makes us productive, holds us accountable, and makes life more smooth and predictable (predictability can have a negative connotation to it: it isn’t a bad thing at all to have predictable days).
But sometimes, through the routine and the daily tasks and endless to-do list that is life, we can sometimes find ourselves feeling uninspired, fatigued, or burnt out.
And that is not what we want.
In order for us (and when we say us, we mean you all too!) to live our lives to the fullest, we must step out of our comfort zone, switch it up a little, and try new things!
And what is so fantastic about life—trying new things doesn’t have to be the same for everyone.
I think when we as people hear “step out of your comfort zone” we often assign that to doing something crazy (and borderline dangerous) like trying bungee jumping, or hiking up a mountain, or simply putting yourself out there to meet new people in a different environment.
But I think it’s time to change what is meant by “try new things.”
I think it can mean mix up your coffee order, take a different route on your morning walk, switch up your living room, try a new recipe for dinner, try that bold lipstick color you’ve been weary to try, or talk to that person in the office that you’ve wanted to meet—whatever it may be, you never know what could come from it.
Not that any of us needs the reminder these days, but life is too short. So that being said, we should push ourselves out of our comfort zones when we are able, so that we don’t miss out on all this beautiful life has to offer.
There are so many delightful people out there who you haven’t met yet, delicious foods you haven’t tried yet, new lipstick colors that you haven’t worn yet—there are so many wonderful things in this life that are begging for you to give them a try.
We are wanting to approach life with a childlike wonder and try new things often. You never know what you could be missing out on!
So go out there, try a new recipe, mix up your coffee order, and talk to someone new. We will be trying these new things right there with you!
Love your writing so inspiring.
