We wrote in our newsletter this week (which we send out bi-weekly and you can subscribe to at the bottom of this page) about how going through a Scrooge-esque, Christmas Carol journey can be a great way to reorient yourself as you head into the final week before the big day.
Using that same framework (the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future) when thinking about decorating your home and choosing the pieces that go in it is also a useful formula of sorts.
The Ghost of Christmas Past – Nostalgia: Does this remind you of something in your own past, or an era of design that you find appealing?
The Ghost of Christmas Present – Intentionality: Does this fit your home and life today?
The Ghost of Christmas Future – An Heirloom Mindset: Is this something you’d love to enjoy for a long time and eventually pass down to a loved one someday?
Not everything has to be tied to a memory, be perfectly practical, or become an heirloom one day, but using those reference points as general markers for pieces you’re considering is at least helpful in deciding what to buy and how to fill a space — if nothing else, it’s nice to have a “tie-breaker” when trying to decide between multiple pieces.
On a more practical note, we’ve always gone to CB2 for home decor and furniture, because their designs fall in line so much with this loose framework we’re talking about. They tie in all the right nods to the history of design we’ve come to appreciate. CB2 also creates pieces that feel intentional and practical for our life now — when we walk around their show rooms, we rarely if ever see something that doesn’t feel laboriously considered. And when it comes to an heirloom mindset, their decor and furniture bear all of the hallmarks of quality that can last a lifetime (or two).
Today we’re sharing some of our favorite pieces from CB2 that can act as home design inspiration leading into the New Year or last minute holiday decor! There are tons of pieces on their website available for up to 60% right now, so it’s a great time to start planning for your next design or decor project!
