A Side Table with Main Character Energy

There’s something unexpected and wonderful about watching a movie where a side character steals the show. The late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman was the king of this, and Jennifer Coolidge very well may be the queen. No matter who they act with or stand beside, they bring an intoxicating energy to their roles that shifts them from a moon in orbit around larger planets to the sun at the very center of their own galaxy. Somehow they manage to do it all without the sort of upstaging agitation that unsettles the ecosystem within which they are operating.

It’s rare to see that sort of delicate dominance in any walk of life. Every once in a blue moon, a guitarist upstages the front man, a role player has the game of their life, or your aunt tells the best story at Thanksgiving dinner — way to go Sherryl. But when it happens, you feel it!

The same concept goes for the home. The couch, rug, and coffee table run the show in the living room, while your bed, night stands, and chest of drawers own the spotlight in your bedroom. But, every now and then, one tertiary piece steals the show. Maybe it’s a mirror you found at an antique store, a piece of art that asserted itself as the central decoration in a space, or an ottoman that somehow manages to bring the entire room together.

For us, we find ourselves constantly admiring this small side table in our living room. It’s seemingly unassuming, but the details on it are immaculate. It’s entirely pragmatic, but the wood grain, color, and ornate-without-being-stuffy details on it bring it to life!

We found it on Wayfair last year, and it’s one of our favorite pieces that’s successfully made the leap from our apartment into our new home. We use Wayfair a lot for filling in these sort of “side characters” within our home, and we realized recently that the table was finally back in stock after several months of being sold out! For us, there’s probably not a better place online to find what you need when it comes to furniture and decor.

We’re sharing this side table and a few others that have caught our eye as well!
