I’m making a promise to myself this spring: I want to be energetic and active all season.
This is some of the best weather, and I feel I would be doing it and myself quite a disservice by staying in on a pretty day. Unless I felt that I absolutely needed to, but that’s another story for another time.
As we have come out of the winter slump, it is time to embrace May. Time to embrace the newness and hope that spring brings.
And also, my doctor told me I was low on vitamin D so this was something I realized I needed to fix… fast.
So here are 3 ways to boost your energy this spring:
1) Sunlight
Direct sunlight on our skin is so beyond important. Not only for our physical health, but for our mental health. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels like an entirely new person the second the sun comes out?! It is so crucial that we take time to really soak up some sun, as Sheryl Crow intended.
However, while you are getting said sun—it is more important that you are wearing the proper sunscreen to protect yourself from harmful UV rays. This sunscreen has been my favorite lately!
2) Exercise
Move your body in any way! As soon as I’m set to go on a long walk, go to a yoga class, or go running at the gym–I just know I’m going to feel better, no matter how painful it is to get me to go do it sometimes. But hey… we’re all human! Life is hard and it is difficult to carve out time for yourself from time to time. But even if it is just 10 minutes of a walk in your neighborhood, you deserve it and it will instantly make you feel better. (I guarantee it!) I’ve had these running shoes for the last year or so, and I love them for their comfort and support!
3) Self-care
As always, this is my favorite way to boost my energy no matter the weather. Self-care. And really, everything you do should, in some form, be self-care. Stepping outside and letting the morning sun shine on your face and taking one hour to work out is the utmost form of self-care.
Hot take: I think there is nothing better than washing your face–morning or night. Even in the middle of the day if I feel like I’m in a funk and need a reset, I will go wash my face. Something about it wakes me up and boosts my mood! This has been my go-to face wash for the last few years.
So whether it’s a walk in the sun, a good sweat sesh, or simply taking five minutes to wash your face and reset–I hope you find your own ways to feel more energized this spring. You don’t have to do it all at once… just start somewhere. Let this season be a fresh start and more joyful all around. You deserve to feel good and energized!
